Windows 7 ISO Burning
How to Burn an ISO Image using Windows 7
Article by Marc Liron - Microsoft MVP (Windows Desktop Experience)
An ISO image is an archive file (also known as a disc image) of an
optical disc (CD/DVD).
ISO image files typically have a file extension of .iso. The name
ISO is taken from the ISO 9660 file system used with CD-ROM media,
but an ISO image can also contain a UDF file system since UDF is
backward-compatible with ISO 9660.
A valid ISO image is an uncompressed collection of various files
merged into one single resulting file.
The most important feature of an ISO image is that it can be easily
rendered or burned to a DVD or CD by using media authoring or disc
burning software.
Many software companies make their product available as an ISO file
for electronic download. All the customer has to do then is "burn"
the file onto a CD/DVD and then use this to install the software.
Much quicker than waiting for a CD/DVD to arrive in the post from
Amazon.com !
How to Create The CD/DVD in Windows 7
The process is very simple...
STEP 1 - Locate the
ISO file on your PC using Windows Explorer

STEP 2 - Highlight the ISO file by clicking on it once and then select "Open With" from the Windows Explorer menu above.

STEP 3 - Select "Windows Disc Image Burner" and a new window will appear. At the same time your disc drive should open (if not manually open it.) Make sure the correct drive is being selected and then click BURN. Hint: Make sure the "Verify disc after burning" button is ticked as it is not by default.

Your CD or DVD will now be created using the ISO file!
