Internet Explorer Passwords
How to Recover Saved Passwords in Internet Explorer
Article by Marc Liron - Microsoft MVP (Windows Desktop Experience)
Today there are many websites and online services that we all
interact with using passwords.
Online banking, eBay, and Gmail are good examples..
Forgotten those Passwords in
Internet Explorer?
Internet Explorer includes the option to remember your usernames
and passwords for these types of websites. So the next time you
visit the website Internet Explorer can "auto fill" these details
for you.
However, overtime by using this built in feature you can end up
forgetting your passwords!

For instance the screenshot above is of a Google Mail (Gmail)
login box.
If I login each day using the Internet Explorer auto fill feature I
can easily end up forgetting my password...
And since Internet Explorer is only showing the password as a series
of dots and not plain text, I cannot see it.
So I am stuck.
But not for long as there are several utilities that can be found
online that can reveal the password.
My personal favourite is the PC Tools Password Utilities
Tool available at:

After downloading the utility simply follow the simple 3 steps outlined on
the Password Revealer tab - as shown in the screenshot above. You will then have
the password displayed as plain text.
This is a handy utility for discovering your forgotten passwords in Internet Explorer. Sadly it does not work with FireFox. This utility does not actually install itself on your computer so is handy to keep/run on a USB memory stick.
